Oh, I like her a lot. The first movie I saw of hers was Thirteen, made on a shoe string budget, and I thought it was great. I was delighted when I learned she would be directing Twilight. I think she did an awesome job with Twilight. She gets blamed for a lot of things that were beyond her control...first and foremost the skimpy budget that didn't permit her to do all the things she wanted.
The cast, crew and Stephenie Meyer all loved her and her casting choices were absolutely inspired. We will have Catherine to thank for that forever.
I love Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown! While I don't think Twilight is her best film, i still like it. And the more times i watch it, the more things i love about it.
It annoys me slightly that she gets blamed for things to do with the budget, the script, etc. I saw someone on LJ say she 'forgot' to include the meadow scene and only remembered afterwards. When in fact she had to ask Summit if they could film that in LA, because they couldn't do it before because of the bad weather. Then the studio brought the film's release date forward by a few weeks, meaning she had to edit it quicker.
And I've seen so many people online call her 'crazy' which I've never understood. Yes, she's more impulsive, loud, enthused, etc. But I don't see why that makes her 'crazy'.
I feel like she put so much into the film, and maybe isn't appreciated very much for it..
It's true Kristen loved working with Catherine. I also love how much she seemed to involve Stephenie Meyer during the making of the film too.
I remember seeing comments about "forgetting" the meadow scene, too. As I recall, Catherine discussed the meadow scene problems in her wonderful Director's Notebook.
And I've seen so many people on line call her 'crazy' which I've never understood....>
I don't think she's "crazy" at all...I think she's just very exuberant and has a bubbly personality.
I feel like she put so much into the film, and maybe isn't appreciated very much for it..
That's one reason I'm so glad Twilight has won so many awards when fans got to do the voting.
I think it's been brilliant of all three directors to include Stephenie in discussions. The fans have been extremely concerned about the films being faithful to the books and Stephenie is very helpful in that regard. As Chris Weitz said, she has all the Twilight mythology in her head. :>)

It's sometimes hard to find other Catherine fans, as I know she's not very well liked in the Twilight fandom...

So yes, I am a Catherine Hardwicke fan.
